Relay for Life continues the fight on June 4

A fundraiser dedicated to helping people fight cancer will take place on Saturday, June 4, as the Warren County Relay For Life returns to downtown McMinnville.

Community fight against cancer begins at 5 p.m.

“We have high hopes for this year’s turnout,” said Relay For Life organizer Carla Savage. “You never know, but we have high hopes.”

At 5 p.m., First Church of the Apostolic Faith of Jesus Christ will perform. This performance will take place on the Grassy Lot stage.

The talented local group Assisted Living will take the stage at 6 p.m.

The opening ceremony begins at 7 p.m. with an invocation by Christ Central preacher Cody Boston and an engagement led by The Survivor Children.

“We have children who have survived cancer and they will be leading the pledge,” Savage said.

After the opening ceremony, the moving walk of the survivors begins.

A Relay Auction, led by Donald Hillis Realty, returns as part of this year’s Relay For Life. The sponsors of the event will also be presented.

The Luminaria ceremony is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. The Luminaria honor every life touched by cancer.

They can be dedicated to a lost loved one, someone who is currently struggling, or anyone who has overcome it. The cost is $10.

Purchases can be made through any team member or on the night of the event.
