Pope Francis’ Ambassador to India visits St. Philomena Church


Mysore/Mysore: The Apostolic Nuncio in India, Archbishop Leopoldo Girelliwho is Pope Francis’ ambassador to India, visited the city’s St. Philomena Church yesterday.

The Vatican Ambassador to India and Nepal, participating in the prayer meeting, prayed for the well-being of all.

Later the Bishop of Mysuru, Reverend Dr. KA William, Bishop Emeritus, Reverend Thomas Antony Vazhappily, Bishop Mandya, Reverend Sebastian, Religious Leaders Alfred John Mendo, Dominic Vaz and others have congratulated the Reverend Leopoldo Girelli.

Speaking on the occasion, Reverend Leopoldo Girelli said that Mysuru is the oldest religious place in Karnataka which houses the highest church in Asia and added that the Christian community has been involved in various social services through educational institutions and hospitals.

Pointing out that Mysuru is famous for many things, he said the festivities of Mysore Silk, Mysore Pak, Mysore Sandal Soap and Dasara are world famous. “Mysuru has left its own mark for the development of the nation and the city is known for its culture. I have a lot of respect for Mysuru,” Reverend Leopoldo Girelli said.

Stating that there are many changes going on in the country, Reverend Leopoldo Girelli said that God is with everyone and called on everyone to pray and live in unity to lead a happy life.
