Rosemary Katherine Scher, 89, of Sabetha went to join the Lord on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.
Rosemary was born on August 10, 1933 in Harper, Kansas to Adam and Katherine (Vogel) Scher. She attended Harper Elementary School and graduated from Harper High School. For ten years she was employed at the Harper, Kingman and Barber Counties Training Center in Kansas.
On July 17, 1953, Rosemary professed her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was received in full communion into Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Argonia, Kan. She lived in Liberty, Ky., with her adoptive brother, Jake Scher, for a while before moving to the Apostolic Christian Village apartments where she enjoyed feeding stray cats. At this time, she was also employed as a catering assistant at the Apostolic Christian House.
On October 13, 2006, she was admitted to the nursing home where the staff became her dear friends and family. Rosemary always had a memorable story about her youth and often shared that she was a “daddy’s girl”. For many years she worshiped with Sabetha First Lutheran Church, where she met many new friends.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; and his adopted brother. Survivors include a very special friend, Karonne Finger and her dog, Little Rosi; six first cousins; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 19, 2022 at Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. Rosemary will be in state from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at the funeral home. Interment will be next to his parents at Harper Cemetery in Harper, Kan.
