Obituary of Janice L. Brechtelsbauer – Akron Beacon Journal


Janice L. Brechtelsbauer passed away on August 7, 2022.

She is survived by her sons, Joel, Jon (Lori), James (Teri) and Jeremy (Andrea); eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; his sister, Gloria (Don) Lay, and his brother, David (Laura) Hancock. She was predeceased by her husband, Joshua, and son, Jeffrey.

Janice was born on August 27, 1936 in Toledo, Ohio to parents Lawrence and Marjorie Hancock. An active member of the New Apostolic Church, Janice was an organist, Sunday school teacher and choir member for many years. She fully assumed her role as matriarch of the family and generously provided unconditional support to all. His moral compass, creative abilities, love for gardening and music will always be cherished and passed on to the younger generation. She never forgot a birthday, and her strawberry pies and apple cakes were enjoyed by many. She devoted much of her time to serving with her late husband, Joshua, in many areas, such as soul care, flower arrangements, and scholarship. Janice was also a professional seamstress for many years of her life and ran a small business. Her friends will always remember her as a spiritually pious, loving and honorable person.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Apostolic Church, 3541 Elm Road, Stow 44224. Visitation will be held at the church before the service from 10:00 a.m. All are invited to attend and celebrate Janice’s life.

Memorials can be made to the New Apostolic Church in Stow.
