The National Universities Commission, NUC has approved the renaming of Samuel Adegboyega University, SAU, Ogwa in Edo State to Glorious Vision University, GVU.
The announcement of the change of me from the institution was contained in a statement signed by Mr. Oluyemi Esan,
Acting clerk of the private university, and made available to journalists in Benin City on Thursday.
According to Esan, the approval, which is effective immediately, was communicated to the University through a letter dated June 14, 2022, approved by Chris J. Maiyaki, Deputy Executive Secretary (Administration), on behalf of the Executive Secretary, NNUC.
The statement, titled: “The National Universities Commission (NUC) Grants Approval for the Name Change of Samuel Adegboyega University to Glorious Vision University,” reads in several parts:
“He is delighted to announce the approval of the name change from SAU to GVU by the National Universities Commission (NUC), following an appeal by the owner, Apostolic Church of Nigeria, LAWNA Territory.
“The approval which is effective immediately was communicated to the University by letter dated June 14, 2022, signed by Chris J. Maiyaki, Deputy Executive Secretary (Administration), on behalf of the Executive Secretary.
He added that Glorious Vision University, formerly Samuel Adegboyega University, was established by the Apostolic Church, Nigeria, LAWNA Territory.
“It was granted an operational license by the National Universities Commission on March 7, 2011, as the 45th private university and 117th overall in the Nigerian university system.
“As at the moment, all academic programs run by the University have full accreditation status,” Esan said.
