Marianne Lou Peterson, 86, a longtime Calumet resident, died Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Canal View in Hancock, Michigan.

Marianne was born on March 31, 1936 to Martha (Ulvinen) and Arne Sturos in Laurium.

She attended Calumet High School and graduated with the class of 1953.

She was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Calumet.

Marianne was married to Arnold Peterson on September 3, 1955 in Calumet.

After graduating, she worked at Great Lakes Naval Academy located in Illinois and later at Home for the Aged in Calumet, Michigan.

Marianne is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold; son, Steven; son-in-law, Paul Isaacson; great-grandchildren, William Helppi and baby boy Larson; siblings, Bob and (Maria) Sturos, Tom Sturos and Carol Plow.

Marianne is survived by her children, Donna Isaacson of Mohawk, Dianne (Mike) Larson of Chassell, Brian (Melissa) Peterson of Albertville, MN, Calvin (Jennifer) Peterson of Delano, MN, Lisa (Joe) Niemi of Milford, Eric (Annu) Peterson from Brighton, Elona (Steve) Niemi from Howell, Maria (Randy) L’Esperance from Byron, Bruce Peterson from Bismarck, ND, Marce (Phil) Halonen from Calumet, Myra (Steve) Nordstrom from Atlantic Mine; sister, Kathleen (Jim) Keplinger of Marquette; brother, John (Carol) Sturos of Lac LaBelle; brother-in-law, Lowell Plow of Woodinville, WA; 95 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation service for Marianne Peterson will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2022, from 4 to 8 p.m., and Wednesday, August 24, 2022, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the First Apostolic Church in Calumet, Michigan.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 11 a.m. at First Apostolic Church in Calumet, Michigan.

A funeral service and lunch will follow the funeral service.

The Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home will help the family make arrangements.
