Jewell Evelyn Marti, 89, of Lamar, Missouri, died Feb. 26, 2022, at Medicalodges of Frontenac in Frontenac, Kansas.
Evelyn was born on January 3, 1933, in Hastain, Missouri, to James Walton Thorburn and Lula Bell (Vincent) Thorburn. On July 30, 1955, Jewell married Leonard Lewis “Joe” Marti in Lamar, Missouri.
Evelyn was a homemaker and member of the Christian Apostolic Church in Pittsburgh, Kansas.
Survivors include four sisters-in-law; Mary Thorburn of Russellville, Arkansas, Joyce Thorburn of McPherson, Kansas, Allene (Jerry) Steffen of Goodfield, Illinois and Theresa Marti of Burlington, Iowa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Other survivors whom Evelyn considered family included Calvin and Jodi Luthi of Lamar and their children; Audrey (Aaron) Rokey and their children, Maya and Camden of Morris, Minnesota, Jessica (Jesse) Braker and their daughter Alayna, Ryan (Samantha) Luthi and their son Owen, all of Jasper, Missouri, Jared Luthi, Caleb Luthi, Nathan Luthi, Amber Luthi, Austin Luthi, Danielle Luthi and Clint Luthi, all of Lamar, Missouri.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, a son Jeff, a granddaughter, Nancy, her parents and her two brothers; Winford Thorburn and Archie “Leroy” Thorburn.
The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Pittsburg, Kansas, and interment will begin at 1:30 p.m., at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Lamar, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Daniel, Lamar Funeral Home, and again from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Thursday, March 3, before the service at the church.
