Election of Ekiti: a priest asks for peace

As the people of Ekiti State head to the polls today to elect Governor Kayode Fayemi’s successor, the President of the United Apostolic Church of Christ Worldwide, Dr. James Owoyemi appealed peace and the need to avoid violence in all its forms.

The cleric, who prayed for peaceful elections and the emergence of a person after God’s heart as the next governor, instructed the people to focus on the development of Ekiti and let that manifest in his decision, saying: “Peace is a condition for development”.

The Ikere Ekiti-born UACC leader said: “We call on our people to be calm and do things right. Why should you surrender yourself as a tool in the hands of the devil?

“There is going to be a power shift and someone is luring you into violence, don’t allow it! We call on our people to remain calm. Embrace peace.

“We have been praying, this is part of our prayers that there will be peace in Ekiti and this transition will be smooth by the grace of God.”
