Caritas to raise 20 million pesos for churches affected by Odette


MANILA, Philippines – Caritas Manila is hosting an online concert to raise 20 million pesos to help rebuild 15 churches in Visayas and Mindanao that were damaged by Typhoon Odette.

Caritas announced its partnership with Viva Live Inc. to present “Padayon: Pag-ibig, Damayan sa Pag-ahon!” March 25.

“Through this online benefit concert, Caritas Manila aims to raise funds for the reconstruction of Catholic churches and chapels destroyed by the typhoon,” the religious organization said.

The Chapel of Our Lady of Fatima and Sto. The Tomas De Villanueva Church under the Archdiocese of Cebu will benefit from the fundraiser.

Other beneficiaries are St. Michael the Archangel Parish and Amparo Church of the Diocese of Maasin, San Isidro Labrador Chapel, Candelaria Chapel, San Carlos Borromeo Chapel, San Jose Chapel, St. St. Peter’s Church and St. Paul’s Chapel of the Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa.

The Sto. The parish of Niño and the parish of Saint-Isidore-le-Fermier de Tagbilaran, the Church of Our Lady of Peace, the parish church of Saint-Vincent Ferrier and the parish church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste will also benefit from the concert.

Among the artists who will take part in the online concert are artists from Viva, including Sarah Geronimo and her husband Matteo Guidicelli, Mark Bautista, Lyca Gairanod and Bandang Lapis.

Caritas said there will also be special participation from the former Archbishop of Manila, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, who is the prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples at the Vatican.

“Let’s all help rebuild the churches and chapels destroyed by Typhoon Odette,” said Caritas.
