The annual Black Patch Festival in Princeton may still be weeks away, but many organizations are already pledging to bring some fun this year. The date for this year’s street festival is Saturday, September 10, and lots of fun activities are already planned.
New to the festivities this year is a Black Patch 3D Archery Shoot, which is sponsored by the Caldwell County Sportsman Club. Filming will take place the last weekend of August, and more information will be released as it becomes available. Questions can be directed to the Caldwell County Sportsman Club and its president Adam Cruzen.
In recurring events, the Friends of the George Coon Public Library announced that they will be hosting an annual book sale again this year. The hours are below:
- Saturday, September 3 — 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Tuesday, September 6 — 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Wednesday, September 7 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Thursday, September 8 — 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Friday, September 9 — 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Saturday, September 10 — 9 a.m. to noon
In addition, the petting zoo has again been confirmed. It is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 10 on the lawn next to City Hall. Donations will be accepted for participation and will be split between Caldwell County FFA and Caldwell County 4-H.
The Princeton Art Guild will also bring back its “Art on Main” on Black Patch Day. This will be held in front of the Art Guild on Main Street. For more information or to register, contact Art Guild Director Melissa Peek.
It’s still not too late to register for a stand at the festival. The deadline for application and payment is August 26. Payment is required prior to booth allocation and forms are available on the Black Patch Festival Facebook page. Late payments will incur a $50 fee, and those who request it or on the day of registration will incur a $100 late fee.
Each stand measures 10 feet by 10 feet. A non-food vendor space costs $30 and a food vendor space costs $100. Setup will begin at 6 a.m. on Saturday and all booths must be set up by 9 a.m. No cars will be allowed in the festival area after 9am.
Also, all vendors are asked to remember that this is a family event and the use of foul language and music is not permitted. Any merchandise containing this must be kept out of public view. Sellers must comply with Department of Health regulations, and all relevant inspector permits/fees are the responsibility of the seller.
