A vandalized church ahead of Easter services

Lake Charles, LA (KPLC) – A small church sits off Lake Street, home to a strong congregation, unable to be broken down – even after vandalism and a burglary of their facility.

“I noticed the entrance to our front door was broken and 2 more windows had shattered,” Pastor Kenneth Hasty said. “Of course we informed the authorities and they came and made a report.”

Lake Charles Police confirm report of vandalism at New Light Apostolic Church ahead of Easter services.

Windows and entrances are broken and barricaded.

“I don’t think they actually won entry,” Hasty said. “We found blood so apparently they cut themselves trying to get in. So they left us a little DNA surprise.

The church is in the process of making repairs, having to place orders and then install tempered glass. Security measures are now in place.

The pastor says the vandals will not put a stop to their resurrection services.

“In the meantime, we had to put in plywood and those kinds of supports to try to secure the building,” Hasty said. “When you compare what Jesus went through, our experiences aren’t even comparable. So we will continue the party.

Lake Charles police say no arrests have been made.
